- In short
- Role framing is assigning Claude a professional lens - a financial analyst, an editor, a policy reviewer - to set the vocabulary, depth of reasoning, and assumptions it brings to a task. Role shapes how the response reads and how deeply it reasons, but it does not tell Claude what action to take, so it never replaces a specific task instruction. Role framing matters most when a deliverable must read as if it came from a particular professional function.
